Meet Our Pastor

IMG_1272.jpg

Pastor Tim Atchley came to know Christ in October of 1983 at the ripe age of 20, and a supernatural encounter with the Holy Spirit dramatically impacted his life and led him to attend Trinity Chapel, a Spirit-filled church in the Knoxville area. He and his wife Sheila married and started their family at that church where they spent years serving in various ministries and overseeing home groups.

In 1993, the church leadership felt there was a need for a church in North Knoxville. After fasting and prayer, they felt the Lord showed them they were to send out Tim, his lovely wife Sheila, and their four children in the fall of 1993 to start the work called Harvest Church.

Harvest Church began in a transient fashion, moving from a karate school, then to a storefront underneath the Goodwill, then to a Presbyterian Church at 3:30 p.m. on Sundays. You’d think a church could not grow under such circumstance, but several precious souls were added both to the Kingdom and to Harvest Church, folks who remain with us to this very day.

In 1997, God moved us to our present facility. A few months later, with no average monthly surplus in the church budget, and nothing and no one but the Lord to depend on, Tim left his full-time job and all its benefits at the clear leading of the Lord to become Pastor at Harvest Church full-time. God has met them every week, month, and year since that day. It has not always been easy, but, as they say, “You never know that you have faith, until you’ve been in a GOOD fight.”

Pastor Tim serves as Senior Pastor at Harvest Church Knoxville and is one of ten members of the Master Builders leadership team. Master Builders is a fellowship of Five-Fold ministers and church leaders both national and international. Pastor Tim also serves as the regional coordinator for Master Builders Church in Tennessee, Western North Carolina, and Southwest Virginia.

We’ve seen souls saved and people healed, we’ve had weddings in our midst, we’ve seen babies birthed and grow up, and we’ve cried at the funerals of our members...

Whether a new member or old, we share a common heritage that must be heard and learned by all. It is our family history, and it is also ‘His story.’

Our Elders and Staff

Harvest Church is led by our Pastor and a team of appointed Elders.

Elder Dave Reese

I had a literall “drop to your knees” salvation encounter with Jesus at age 19 in the barracks, on August 17th 1971 while fulfilling my tour of duty in the Air Force. Several months later the Holy Spirit introduced me to Kathy, my bride and friend of 46 years. The Lord has blessed us with five daughters and 15 grandchildren. Its been a joy to serve at Harvest Church these past 18 years in counseling ministry, as well as pulpit preaching when called upon. The Lord has also giving me opportunity to share from the pulpit throughout the years at various other churches in which I have a relationship. “One of my all time favorite songs is by Steve Green, People Need the Lord.” It puts my heart in a vise every time I listen to it.

Elder Jonathan Howe

Jonathan Howe serves as an Elder at Harvest Church. Together with his wife Sarah and daughters, Aidyn and Susanna, they have sown into the body of Christ as a way of life.

In 2001, Jonathan Howe encountered the Lord at sixteen when he surrendered to the call of the Holy Spirit during a youth rally. From that moment he was a different person, having been set free from addictions and bathed in the mercy of Jesus. With a devouring hunger for the word of God, he soon began leading small groups in his youth group and within months of salvation was answering his hunger to preach the gospel at overseas mission trips. It was on his first mission trip to Honduras where Jonathan and Sarah met as teens, not knowing that their paths would meet again eight years later.

From 2003-2007, Jonathan entered Maryville College to pursue his degree in art. He spent his tenor there with a strong desire to be a witness to his fellow students and professors. Time in the counter-Christ culture of the college taught him to passionately defend the gospel against the secular teaching of his professors, to be a witness to them and other students. During this time, he continued to help lead youth ministry in his local church while also getting involved in campus ministries, leading bible studies, evangelism and prayer gatherings. He graduated in 2007 with honors, and quickly began pursuing his career as a full-time artist.

As Jonathan launched his art business he also pursued the call of God by continuing to serve youth ministry in the local church and in 2009 enrolled in Trinity College of Ministry where he and Sarah met again. In 2010 he and Sarah were married with Jesus as the central passion they both possessed.

Together, Jonathan and Sarah served the youth ministry at Harvest Church for seven years. During this time it became clear through the leading of the Spirit, prophetic words, and confirmation of the body of Christ and apostolic leadership, that serving the body of Harvest Church as an elder to help equip her in the destiny God has called her into was the path that the Lord had called Jonathan. His greatest passion along with Sarah is to see the body of Christ walking fully in the truth of the Gospel, equipped to stand strong, boldly testifying to the living, transforming power of Jesus.
